ANN ARBOR – Jim Harbaugh grew up idolizing Rick Leach.
Now the two former Michigan quarterbacks will go head-to-head to benefit charity. Harbaugh, in his second season coaching the Wolverines, and Leach, who starred at Michigan in the 1970s and went on to play 10 seasons of Major League Baseball, will square off in the Michigan Softball Academy's Home Run Derby at 7 p.m. on May 5 at Alumni Field. The event is open to the public to watch.
The seventh annual Michigan Softball Academy will benefit the American Cancer Society. Individuals can make donations for either Harbaugh or Leach and the one with the most dollars donated in their name will get the option of batting first or second.
