LIVONIA -- The moment felt inevitable.
Jim Harbaugh already had spoken for about 45 minutes Tuesday night at Michigan's annual football bust.
He opened by asking parents how they wanted the banquet to run. He went through honors for each of Michigan's seniors. He told a few jokes, handed out plenty of compliments.
And then, suddenly, he got down to business.
"I can speak for myself," he said. "I'm not leaving Michigan. I'm not even considering it."
Harbaugh's words were met with thunderous applause from the sold-out crowd at Laurel Manor as Michigan's head coach officially squashed any rumor that he may be considering a return to the NFL.
