EVANSTON, Ill. -- Michigan's game-winning touchdown Saturday came with 4:06 left on the clock, when Shea Patterson and Karan Higdon marched the offense 67 yards for a score.
But had it not been for a curious penalty on Higdon the drive prior, the Wolverines might have been celebrating sooner.
The senior running back was flagged for holding with 13:06 left in the game and Michigan trailing 17-13. Patterson faked a handoff to Higdon and carried the football to the left side, finding a hole for a 20-yard pickup.
That is until Higdon, who crashed into a Northwestern defender and ended up on the ground, tackled, was named the culprit for a penalty.
