ANN ARBOR -- Jim Harbaugh said Monday night he's hopeful running back Chris Evans will be ready to play in Michigan's next game
But, he cautioned, it might be another week.
The junior tailback remains day-to-day while he deals with an undisclosed injury, likely making his status a game-time decision come Saturday at Northwestern (4:30 p.m. ET, FOX).
"Yeah, sure, hopeful," Harbaugh said on the "Inside Michigan Football" radio show, when asked by host Brad Galli about Evans' status.
"And then hope for the best and prepare for that outcome not happening as well."
Evans sat out Michigan's 56-10 win over Nebraska on Saturday, a game in which fellow back Karan Higdon rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown -- all in the first half.
