Michigan’s satellite football camp tour was supposed to end in American Samoa today, but the “Jim Harbaugh Gridiron Camp” has been cancelled because of Zika virus fears.
Zika is drawing plenty of concern for Olympic athletes because of the widespread Zika concerns in Rio. The virus is spread primarily through the bite of an infected mosquito, and the virus also can be passed from a pregnant woman to her fetus, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Sarah Harbaugh is pregnant with the couple’s fourth child.
While people rarely die of Zika, according to the CDC, a Zika virus infection during pregnancy can cause birth defects.
