The battle for the Little Brown Jug on Saturday evening will take place without Minnesota’s Jerry Kill on the sideline, with the 54-year old head coach announcing on Wednesday that he is retiring from the profession due to health concerns.
Kill began suffering from epileptic seizures as the head coach at Southern Illinois in 2005 while dealing with kidney cancer. He recovered from the cancer, but has continued to have seizures. He suffered two seizures at practice on Tuesday, which ultimately led him to step down.
“I don't want to be a liability,” Kill told ESPN.
