Jalen Rose’s day started with a red-eye flight from Los Angeles.
Arriving in Detroit at 7 a.m., he took his mother to breakfast at the Original House of Pancakes to celebrate her birthday, which was Sunday.
There was time for a quick shower before an appearance at the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy to treat more than 170 high-performing students with lunch provided by a Wingstop food truck.
Rose spoke with pride of the public charter school he co-founded in 2011, but whenever the former Michigan star makes an appearance locally, the conversation typically turns to the Fab Five.
