INDIANAPOLIS -- Michigan’s lack of size never was more apparent than in its one -- and only -- Big Ten women's basketball tournament game.
The Wolverines could not contend with Iowa’s twin towers of Megan Gustafson and Chase Coley and were eliminated in the second round, 97-85, today at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Gustafson and Coley, both of whom are 6-feet-3, were 10-for-13 from the field. Gustafson scored 25 points, and Coley added 20 while guard Ally Disterhoft threw in 22.
The loss means eighth-seeded U-M (17-13), which got 31 points from Katelynn Flaherty and 15 from Hallie Thome, will have no chance to play in the NCAA tournament and will finish its season in the WNIT.
