Iowa 82, U-M 71: Wolverines' rally falls short

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Michigan came to Iowa City looking to jump into the Big Ten title race.

While the Wolverines didn’t do that at Carve-Hawkeye Arena, they proved they’ll be a tough battle the rest of the season.

Facing the Big Ten’s best team, which had handled two of the Big Ten’s top teams in recent weeks, Michigan stayed competitive late in the second half but couldn’t finish, losing to No. 16 Iowa, 82-71.

Trailing by five at 73-68 with just over two minutes to play, Michigan couldn’t get a stop as Iowa’s Peter Jok dropped a three, Jarrod Uthoff hit a jumper and the hill was too steep.
