Iowa 71, Michigan 61: Wolverines unable to help NCAA tournament resume

With its season in the balance, the Michigan basketball team did the one thing it couldn’t tonight.

It played like it usually does.

Which is a problem for a team trying to convince the NCAA tournament selection committee it is something more.

No. 16 Iowa came into Ann Arbor on a four-game losing streak but had no problem handling the Wolverines, giving Michigan a regular season-ending 71-61 loss at Crisler Center.

While the Wolverines will still play as the No. 8 seed in next week’s Big Ten tournament, they likely will need a notable showing – winning the first game, then at least upsetting No.
