INDIANAPOLIS -- It happened again this preseason. Jeff Meyer lost a sibling. His sister, Karen, passed away. Cancer. The 62-year-old Meyer has now mourned his mother, a brother, and two sisters during his nine-year tenure as Michigan assistant coach. The three siblings all died since 2013.
His sister, Denise, is the only remaining member of his immediate family. She lives just outside Indianapolis, where Michigan is facing Oklahoma State in today's NCAA Tournament first round. She can't make the game, unfortunately; has a shift as a hospital aide.
"But if we win," Meyer said, "she'll be able to make Sunday's game.
