Erik Swenson, an Illinois offensive line recruit who had committed to previous Michigan coach Brady Hoke, announced Wednesday on Twitter he no longer is committed to the Wolverines.
Swenson, a 6-foot-7, 285-pound tackle from Downers Grove (Ill.) South, had committed to Michigan in 2013.
“It was my full intention to play in front of you in the Big House,” Swenson wrote. “God has another plan.”
Swenson told the Chicago Tribune last fall that it was challenging to maintain his Michigan commitment during a time of transition after Hoke’s firing and the hiring of Jim Harbaugh. But he remained firm on his commitment.
