As the Michigan Basketball community celebrated Jordan Poole’s selection by the Golden State Warriors, his former teammates Ignas Brazdeikis and Charles Matthews were watching the draft hoping to hear their names called before the lights in the Barclays Center went out. For Brazdeikis, that time finally came just before the strike of midnight.
The New York Knicks used a pick acquired from the Sacramento Kings to draft the Big Ten Freshman of the Year 47th overall. The Oakville, Ontario native is Michigan’s first one-and-done in 19 years, and will now try to cut his teeth in the NBA under coach David Fizdale.
