The buzz surrounding a resumption of the Michigan-Notre Dame rivalry gained steam this week, but the earliest season the storied programs could meet again is more than a handful of years away.
Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly appeared on The Rich Eisen Show and suggested the possibility of the series coming back is "trending up." Per Mark Snyder of the Detroit Free Press, Kelly said:
I think that's something that everybody wants to get going and get Michigan back on the schedule. ... I think that sentiment is coming back to the forefront of where college football needs to be.
