ANN ARBOR -- The thing these days, David DeJulius admits, is to display several baseball hats on a table and, in front of cameras and a crowd, pick one. This comes after months of top-10s, top-8s, and final-4s posted on Twitter. It is the modern day college athlete commitment process.
DeJulius takes no issue with that strategy. Players have worked hard to put themselves in such a position, he says.
But it's not how he went about it.
The 6-foot point guard, then a junior at Detroit's East English Village High School and now an incoming freshman at Michigan, didn't even let a week pass between the offer from John Beilein and his commitment.
