PARAMUS, N.J. -- James Vail thought nothing of it.
Every year his school, Paramus (N.J.) Catholic, secures a high-profile commencement speaker who addresses the graduates and their families.
Vail, the Paramus president, usually releases the speaker’s name with other graduation materials in the middle of May and never thinks twice about it.
This year was different. In mid-April, word got out that Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh would give the speech June 9 at the Prudential Center in Newark, and Vail confirmed it to the local newspaper and website, NJ.com.
His email and phone exploded, with much of the response negative.
