In preparation for its first road game of the season, Michigan football spent the week blasting music and crowd noise across their practice fields at Schembechler Hall. So loud was the collective volume that jokes were made about nearby residents filing complaints.
Sure enough, there were times Saturday when the crowd of 74,855 at Camp Randall Stadium gave the Wolverines hell, long before droves of them made early exits as the scoreboard reflected the home team’s decimation. But for a few comedic seconds in the second quarter, as Wisconsin offense faced third-and-7 from its own 28-yard line, the UW faithful and the Michigan defense joined forces in assailing coach Paul Chryst’s team.
