Donovan Jeter was a backup defensive lineman for Michigan football who wanted more playing time.
With the Wolverines 2-0 a year ago and entering a pivotal matchup at Wisconsin, Jeter met with reporters at Schembechler Hall and explained his frustration with his role — or lack of one.
"You get tired of sitting on the bench," Jeter told reporters Sept. 18, 2019. "You get tired of just sitting there knowing you have the ability to play."
It was a familiar message. Jeter missed his entire freshman season with an injury before playing sparingly in 2018.
