How Don Brown likes to recruit for his defense

Don Brown was hired in mid-December as Michigan’s new defensive coordinator, giving him six weeks to influence U-M’s 2016 recruiting class.

He moved quickly and made a difference with a few prospects who entered the picture late: Linebacker Elysee Mbem-Bosse, defensive end Josh Uche and safety Khaleke Hudson.

While having Michigan’s resources and facilities is attractive and certainly more than anywhere he has worked before, Brown’s recruiting focus is on the game.

“I don’t think recruiting in necessarily easier (at Michigan),” he said recently. “And I don’t think recruiting is necessarily selling. Recruiting is trying to get a young man to be comfortable in this setting.
