In terms of the assignments he’s drawn, defensive lineman Willie Henry has followed an interesting path over the course of his career. As a redshirt freshman in 2013, he won the starting nose tackle position for the second half of the season. He shifted out wider to a 3-technique defensive tackle the following year, but probably couldn’t have anticipated what the new staff would call on him to do.
In the opening game against Utah, there was some variability in where certain players up front could align themselves. That was true of Henry, but his primary focus was on playing defensive end against the strong side of the formation.
