College Park, Md. – The game time changed but the defense remained the same.
Michigan’s defense, ranked No. 2 nationally and clearly the key this season, had three interceptions and was stifling throughout, delivering a shutout for the second-straight game and for the first time since 2000.
The No. 22 Wolverines won their Big Ten opener at Maryland, 28-0, before 51,802 at Byrd Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The game originally had been scheduled for a prime-time start but was changed because of threatening weather from Hurricane Joaquin.
Michigan, which was coming off a 31-0 win over BYU and has given up 14 points in the last four games, is now 4-1, 1-0 Big Ten with the valuable conference road victory.
