UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- It's become part of John Beilein's legend, perhaps not quite as ingrained (or as factual) as the coach never having been an assistant, but still repeated frequently, especially the past few years: Beilein's teams get better as the season goes.
There are reasons for this: Beilein's penchant for recruiting skilled, but physically unremarkable players; his complex offensive system; his ability to adjust to the strengths of his personnel.
Beilein's current Michigan squad won Saturday and Sunday to claim the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament championship and a 5-0 start to the season.
