As the clock ticked down in Michigan Stadium last year, Minnesota’s win over the Wolverines already was sealed. The Golden Gophers secured their final first down at the U-M 14 yard-line, and most of them took off to the south end of the field, where the visiting fans were roaring.
Except offensive lineman Joe Bjorklund, who was still getting back in playing shape after an injury and, in his words, “didn’t want to run anymore.”
“I look over to the sideline and see the Michigan equipment managers opening up a box, and one of them looks me right in the eye and he points to the box,” said Bjorklund, now a senior.
