Cade McNamara decided to get airborne. On fourth and 11 near midfield with his team trailing by one late in the fourth quarter, the future Michigan quarterback scrambled left on a designed pass play. He turned up field, where a defensive back prepared to tackle him three yards short of the first down marker. McNamara jumped, his feet got clipped, and the senior extended the ball just past the marker. First down. McNamara would throw a game-winning touchdown pass a few plays later as Damonte Ranch (Reno, Nevada) beat St. Mary's (Stockton, California).
"He laid out Superman-style," Damonte head coach Shawn Dupris recalled in a phone interview Tuesday.
