Frozen Four: Michigan hockey falls after last-second goal lifts Notre Dame, 4-3

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Michigan's season ended in heartbreaking fashion.

Notre Dame captain Jake Evans scored with 5.2 seconds left to break a 3-3 tie. Evans took a pass from Cam Morrison and beat Michigan goaltender Hayden Lavigne five-hole.

Michigan lost, 4-3, on Thursday night in a Frozen Four semifinal at the Xcel Energy Center.

Cal Burke snapped a 2-2 tie at 1:35 of the third period and strutted on his skates after giving Notre Dame its first lead. Dylan Malmquist sent a pass up to a streaking Burke, who slipped around U-M defenseman Sam Piazza and then poked in his 14th goal goal of the season.
