It's not every day that more than 100,000 people experience one of the world's most lauded orchestras, but that's exactly what will happen at Saturday's (Oct. 10) homecoming game between Michigan and Northwestern.
The New York Philharmonic, in town Oct. 8-11 for a four-day residency with the University Musical Society and the U-M School of Music, Theatre & Dance, jumped at the chance to perform at Michigan Stadium -- less than 24 hours after kicking off their residency with an all-Beethoven concert at Hill Auditorium.
The Michigan Marching Band, under Drs. John Pasquale and Andrea Brown, will welcome 15 of the world's most renowned brass musicians and their distinguished music director, Alan Gilbert, to present "Musical Legends Unite: Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic Brass Live at the Big House.
