Jim Harbaugh nearly had his highest-ranked QB since Andrew Luck.
Instead, four-star recruit Harrison Bailey, who had Michigan in his final two teams, chose Tennessee on Thursday during an announcement ceremony in Marietta, Ga.
The 6-foot-4, 217-pound pro-style quarterback was down to Tennessee and Michigan, with recruiting analysts split on who they thought Bailey would pick.
Bailey is ranked No. 59 overall in the 2020 recruiting class, according to 247Sports (recruiting profile), and as the third-best pro-style QB in the country. Luck, by comparison, was No. 42 overall in the 2008 class.
Michigan had been trying to court Bailey for a better part of a year, with the Marietta native visiting Ann Arbor over the summer.
