Former Michigan Wolverines tight end Tyrone Wheatley Jr. will be a Stony Brook Seawolf this season.
Stony Brook head football coach Chuck Priore announced on Sunday the younger Wheatley’s transfer. Formerly of Manlius, New York, the son of Tyrone Wheatley Sr. returns to his home state after three seasons in Ann Arbor.
Since he is moving down from the FBS to the FCS, Wheatley will be eligible to play immediately. The Seawolves play out of the FCS’s Colonial Athletic Conference.
Wheatley suffered his second career foot injury back in the spring, and perhaps subsequently his weight ballooned to the 300 range.
