Days before the Michigan-Ohio State football game, two former rivals came together at Detroit's Mumford High School to drop off nearly 2,000 bottles of special water — and inspire students.
A school-wide assembly at Mumford High School was part philanthropy, part promotion and part pep rally.
"The hate is real," said Devin Gardner, a former University of Michigan quarterback who now lives in Southfield and is an NFL free agent, as he slipped into his trash-talking role. "But, life is happening, and life is not going to stop happening for the Ohio State-Michigan game."
Donnie Evege, a former Ohio State player and now owner of a recently launched Ohio-based bottled water company, OH²O, joined with Gardner and other football players to deliver and donate the 1-liter bottles to the students.
