Former Michigan basketball captain Zavier Simpson will finish the season in the NBA.
Simpson signed a 10-day contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday, after playing in 47 games with the team's G-League affiliate Oklahoma City Blue.
Simpson, now known by some as "Captain Hook," started 32 of those games, and averaged 12.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists in 30.3 minutes per game, while shooting 47.4% from the field and 32.3% from long range.
The Thunder have battled injuries down the stretch — they had just three guards in their previous game — and certainly don't appear to be pushing anybody to return quickly as they battle for lottery positioning with the Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets.
