Thanks to Faith Canfield, the No. 19 Michigan softball team’s annual Pink Game began with a bang.
In the bottom of the first, the sophomore second baseman cleared the basepaths with a three-run homer to give the Wolverines (17-3 Big Ten, 37-10-1 overall) the only lead they would need in a 8-0 victory against Western Michigan.
In continuing a recent trend, Michigan displayed impressive hitting and power. After inconsistency plagued the lineup for much of the season, it has suddenly ramped up production after a wakeup call in Madison two weeks ago.
