Adam Coon won a spot on the U.S. Olympic Greco-Roman wrestling team last month, but unfortunately for him, he won't be competing in Tokyo this summer.
Coon, a three-time NCAA All-American for Michigan, failed to qualify for the 2021 Olympic Games through the World Olympic Qualifier on Saturday in Sofia, Bulgaria, a last-chance qualification tournament for this summer's Olympics in Tokyo.
The 26-year-old reached the quarterfinals of the greco competition at 130 kilograms (285 pounds), but fell to Ukraine’s Mykola Kuchmii, 6-3. Only the finalists qualified their country for the Olympics, which are set to begin July 23.
