By all accounts, Derrick Walton Jr. excelled in his brief stint with the Orlando Magic this summer.
The former Michigan basketball star was able to parlay that performance into a contract with the other Florida-based team: the Miami Heat, which released a statement tonight announcing the signing of Walton to a two-way contract.
Walton graduated from U-M this spring after a decorated four-year career. He served as the starting point guard dating back to his freshman year and made 126 total starts throughout his career.
