Ex-Michigan star, coach Bump Elliott passes away at 94

Bump Elliott, an influential figure in Michigan Wolverines football history, passed away at the age of 94. The University of Iowa, where Elliott served as athletic director for 21 years, made the announcement on Sunday.

Elliott was the Big Ten MVP in 1947 as a tailback at Michigan and was the team’s head coach for ten seasons from 1959 to 1968 in an era that preceded Bo Schembechler’s run at Michigan. Elliott won a Rose Bowl at Michigan in 1964.

On of the classiest and finest men I’ve had the pleasure to know.
