Jim Harbaugh is adding another former player to his extended coaching staff.
James Ross III, a former four-year linebacker for the Wolverines, has joined the Michigan coaching staff as a defensive assistant.
Ross made the announcement Monday afternoon on Twitter, writing: "Thankful and excited for the opportunity to join The University of Michigan football program to begin my coaching career."
It's unclear at this point what role Ross will have, but it's likely an intern or graduate assistant position. He told MLive in August, after he accepted the job as defensive coordinator at Detroit's Loyola High School, he was pursuing a graduate assistant gig with Michigan.
