In 2013, both Michigan and Michigan State played their first two NCAA Tournament games at The Palace of Auburn Hills, giving both teams home crowd environments as they advanced to the Sweet 16.
This year, the Spartans and Wolverines both enter Selection Sunday in the top 10 of the AP poll, and Little Caesars Arena is serving as a host site for the first two tournament games.
But don't count on the Spartans and Wolverines both opening the tournament in their home state again, ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi said.
Lunardi said on a conference call with reporters on Thursday that it's "very unlikely" that both Michigan and Michigan State are assigned to Little Caesars Arena when the NCAA Tournament committee unveils its bracket on Sunday.
