Eras of Michigan Football

This week I was invited to deliver a guest lecture on campus in the course The History of College Athletics. I covered what I consider the Fielding Yost Era, basically covering the period of Hurry Up’s arrival to the hiring of Fritz Crisler. The hour-ish talk covers a few different themes: his skills, flaws, character, rival, major accomplishments.

We also reviewed pervasive themes during this time such as the struggle between academics & athletics and how Yost navigated his way through all this. I might share small bites of the lecture in post form on these pages, TBD.
