ANN ARBOR -- Don Brown loves the proverbial chess match that comes with coordinating defense.
But he loves his dudes a whole lot more.
Michigan's first-year defensive coordinator is one of the longer-tenured college football assistants in America. Brown's career began in 1982, as a 27-year-old, when he helped Dartmouth win a share of the Ivy League championship.
More than three decades later, now 61, the former Norwich University running back is still cranking.
"Do I look old?" the silver-haired Brown asks with a grin.
He doesn't, actually. Throughout any conversation with Brown, you'll notice one constant: Energy.
