WASHINGTON – D.J. Wilson climbed into the air like a skyscraper rising from the dirt; all arms and legs and hair.
Purdue freshman guard Carsen Edwards had no chance. Edwards tried a last-second three-pointer at the end of regulation Friday that would have won the game against Michigan, but Wilson was too tall and too long.
He easily swatted it away, forcing overtime.
In the huddle, Michigan senior Zak Irvin was yelling at his teammates: “Not today!”
Assistant coach Billy Donlon had written those words high on the wall in the Michigan locker room because Purdue had ended the Wolverines' Big Ten tournament last season.
