From the very first game of the season, Michigan seemed to struggle when it came to converting deep balls. There were plays where the receiver slowed down or didn’t track the pass properly in the air, plus several where the throw was just too strong. Through the first nine games, the lack of explosive plays from the outside was noteworthy, with only one catch of over 30 yards from the wide receiver position.
A week earlier, offensive coordinator Tim Drevno said “it’s going to give” if they just kept plugging away at it and taking shots when they presented themselves.
