David Harris, a 10-year veteran with the New York Jets who led the team in tackles last season, was released by the team in a surprising move Tuesday.
The move to release the 33-year-old was part of "an organizational decision after negotiations broke down," according to Jets coach Todd Bowles.
Harris, a second-round pick in 2007 from Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills and University of Michigan, missed one game the past eight seasons and led the Jets in tackles including 62 solos.
