Michigan baseball will be represented in the MLB All-Star Game later this month with the announcement that San Diego Padres’ second baseman Jake Cronenworth earned a spot on the NL squad.
Cronenworth debuted for the Padres last season and had a stellar first season, finishing second in the NL Rookie of the Year race. He’s avoided the sophomore slump so far, hitting .278/.353/.462 with 12 home runs, 58 runs, and 34 RBIs.
This is Michigan baseball’s first MLB All-Star since JJ Putz was selected in 2007 while serving as the closer for the Seattle Mariners.
