ANN ARBOR -- The Boilermakers jumped and hollered on the Crisler Center court as Michigan fans serenaded the referees with boos, some throwing their foam light sticks towards the court. Charles Matthews' heave from just inside half court had rimmed out, and No. 4 Purdue had escaped with a 70-69 win Tuesday.
The plays that preceded it caused the fan reaction.
Michigan held possession in a tie game with the shot clock turned off. Charles Matthews drove left towards the hoop, and the ball was knocked out of bounds, initially ruled to be touched last by Purdue.
