ANN ARBOR -- It's been a rough go of it early on for sophomore Chris Evans.
The 5-foot-11, 206-pound running back lost his starting role last week to a surging Ty Isaac, then spent most of Saturday watching Michigan's 29-13 win over Air Force from the sideline.
Evans fumbled the football on his second carry of the game, on a first-and-10 play with 6:15 left in the first quarter. It was a costly mistake, one that set Air Force up in Michigan territory and resulted in Evans benched until the fourth quarter.
In his place emerged junior Karan Higdon, who carried the football 12 times for a season-high 64 yards and scored Michigan's only offensive touchdown.
