CHELSEA -- Chelsea High School's baseball field will be renamed after one of the winningest coaches in Michigan High School Athletic Association history.
On May 12, Chelsea will be naming its baseball field after Wayne Welton, a longtime coach and athletic director in the school district.
A 9:30 a.m. ceremony is planned to honor Welton, who coached the baseball team for 32 years and led the Bulldogs to a 767-357-11 record and a Class B state title in 1991. He also served as the school's AD for 22 years.
