Charles Matthews and Zavier Simpson have struggled from the foul line this season, but according to their coach, they're showing improvement in practice.
On Tuesday night's "Inside Michigan Basketball" radio show, airing on the Michigan IMG Sports Network, John Beilein said Matthews made 90-of-100 foul shots in that day's practice and Simpson went 74-for-100. Both announcements received a loud applause from the listeners at Ann Arbor's Pizza House, where the show is broadcast live.
"They just needed muscle memory," Beilein told the show's hosts, Matt Park and Terry Mills. Simpson is shooting 50 percent (21-of-42) from the line this season; Matthews, Michigan's highest-volume foul shooter, is at 55 percent (48-of-87).
