Sierra Romero and Tera Blanco homered on Senior Day Sunday as Big Ten softball champion Michigan (44-4, 21-2) beat visiting Rutgers 8-0 in a five-inning, run-rule regular-season finale.
Sierra Lawrence and Blanco had three hits apiece for the Wolverines and Megan Betsa (22-3) gave up one hit and struck out eight in five innings.
No. 2 Michigan, which has won 17 straight, clinched its ninth consecutive Big Ten title on Saturday.
While the Wolverines clinched the Big Ten title during Saturday’s 11-1 win over Rutgers, they celebrated the achievement – with the conference championship trophy – after Sunday’s game.
