Rumblings first began Thursday night of a potential hire at Central Michigan.
It's a done deal now.
Jim McElwain has resigned from his job as wide receivers coach at Michigan to take the head coaching job in Mt. Pleasant.
The hire was first reported by Central Michigan Life, CMU's student newspaper. A CMU spokesman declined to comment on the report Sunday, but said a news conference was planned for Monday to introduce the school's next head coach.
McElwain, 56, spent the 2018 season on staff at Michigan, after he was fired as Florida's head coach midway through the 2017 season.
