ANN ARBOR -- Michigan's top defenseman is returning to Ann Arbor for his sophomore season.
The Wolverines announced on Saturday that Quinn Hughes, the seventh overall pick in this year's NHL draft, will not be signing a pro contract with the Vancouver Canucks.
Instead, he will be back anchoring Michigan's blue line, looking to build off his impressive 2017-18 campaign, where he led all Big Ten freshman defenseman with 29 points (five goals, 24 assists).
"My heart's obviously still at Michigan," Hughes told MGoBlue.com. "I was heartbroken when we lost to Notre Dame in the Frozen Four last year.
