Defense has defined Michigan's debut season under new coach Jim Harbaugh.
Though he's an offensive coach, Harbaugh inherited more experience and talent on defense, and the Wolverines have played like it. Adding passionate defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin to the mix aided the progress.
It's easy enough to consider this defense one of the nation's best — evidenced by the stats with the No. 1 scoring and No. 2 overall defense.
To be remembered as one of the all-time greats, though, Durkin's unit will have to produce in the final three weeks, beginning today at Indiana.
